Travel accommodation is a major expenditure. So one wants to find a Tokyo cheap hotel – also comfortable with competent staff able to consult in city trips and distant sights.

Choose a hotel near the city part you want to inspect or from where you can fast get off by subway or bus. In frequent travels out of town look for a hotel near a railroad or bus station. It’ll save you road time greatly.

There’re 4 basic methods:
1. Web booking services. Here’re some:

HostelWorld.com provides on-line confirmed bookings for hostels, budget accommodation centres and package tours.

HostelBookers.com is the independent hostel booking site that has no booking fees. With youth hostels and cheap accommodation in over 2,500 destinations worldwide, our aim is to be the number one site for student travel, backpackers and for the general traveller.

HotelsCombined.com is a search engine that you can use it to find hotel availability and rates, and to compare prices and offers from multiple merchants.

2. Hotel online catalogs. Reservation is at the given phone N. Here’re some:

AsiaRooms.com

J-Hotel.or.jp

3. Guidebooks for hotel search.

Lonely Planet (LP) is one of the largest travel guidebook publishers in the world. It was the first popular series of travel books aimed at backpackers and other low-cost travelers. As of 2008, it published about 500 titles in 8 languages, with annual sales of more than six million guidebooks.

National Geographic brings over a century of incomparable travel expertise to today’s sophisticated globe-trotters. Each National Geographic Traveler features: detailed background and site descriptions, mapped walking and driving tours, fascinating vignettes on history, culture, contemporary life, a 60-page directory of visitor information, including notable hotels and restaurants, entertainment, and shopping.

Rough Guides is a guidebook which cover more than 200 destinations. Initially, the series was aimed at low-budget backpackers, but they are now marketed to travellers on all budgets. The initial focus on travel has broadened to a coverage of reference subjects, including music and a varied general reference list on topics such as film, literature, popular science, ethical living, etc.

4. Hotel booking at a tourist office.

Things to notice:

Pets
Very few Japanese hotels admit pets. To bring a pet into the country, you need its health certificate, 12-hour airport quarantine and a 2-week home quarantine.

Hotel safe
Keep your valuables in the room or hotel deposit. Although Japan is rather quiet, being on the safe side is always good.

Kids
Hostels don’t admit kids under 4. Check their admittance to hotels.

Meals
Breakfast and dinner aren’t usually covered by the room price, unlike ryokan (small private hotels) where they’re often served to rooms.

Check in/check out
Their time usually differ by 1-3 hours. Besides, at night some hotels close.

Hotel choice
Read recent user comments thoroughly about service quality, latest hotel problems and so on to make a final decision afterwards.

Hotel reach
Carry the following info:

voucher

hotel address and detailed route from a subway or bus station

Tokyo subway bilingual map.

Note that few Japanese know English. So always keep the hotel address and map in Japanese. When hard to find the hotel, take a taxi.

Have a nice stay in Tokyo!

The dramatic increase of French hotel prices over the past few years, especially in Paris, have led many tourists to shorten their holiday or simply pick other European destinations to spend their vacation.

However, some wise travellers have already pitched on a far more money-saving accommodation system which, it appears, may well become as popular as the traditional hotel business in the years to come.

Indeed, weekly apartment rental has become for many the best way to experience the city of lights without putting further strain on their holiday budget.

If the advantageous financial aspect of vacation rentals is a well-known fact, it is also the best way to live in the city just like one of its native inhabitants and forget about all the hassle of “not being at home”. Don’t want to go to the restaurant? You can have a romantic dinner at home! Don’t want to go to the bar? You can have a bottle of wine in your own private living room with your guests! It goes without saying that renting an apartment in the very heart of a city is certainly the closest way to experience Paris just like a true Parisian would.

Choosing your pied-à-terre in the city is now as simple as booking a hotel room and can be done in a few clicks. And with such a large choice of apartments or studios, travellers can now find an accommodation that will match their expectations in terms of size, budget or location, be it for adventurous backpackers or luxury travel addicts.

The Worldcup 2010 football tournament is one of the most anticipated events in the sporting world this year. It brings together 32 of the best football teams in the world to compete over two months in the summer. These FIFA national teams have been competing for the honor of qualifying in the Worldcup 2010 since August of 2007, and now the time to play the tournament has finally arrived. Fans are buying their tickets and making travel plans to attend what promises to be one of the most electric FIFA Worldcup tournaments in several years.

Cape Town, South Africa, will host the Worldcup 2010. It won the honor through an extensive bidding process, and now the town is preparing for the influx of fans, players, and media that will descend in early summer. A state of the art new stadium has been designed and built specifically to host this event. The Worldcup 2010 rivals the Olympics as one of the biggest world competitions, and it creates the same sort of craziness for the host city during the event. Crowd control is a major issue at Worldcup events because the national pride of a Worldcup match tends to make fans more excited than usual.

Held every four years, the Worldcup football tournament is the pinnacle of the football world, and the champions hold the world title for the next four years. Italy has been the proud holder of the cup for the last four years, and there are several clubs that would like to change things up this time around. Some controversies over officiating during the qualifying rounds will add some drama to the Worldcup 2010 tournament this summer, with all eyes watching for fouls and screaming for each game to be called properly. There is bound to be some extra controversy if there are close calls.

There are several teams in the Worldcup 2010 tournament that feel like they have a chance to knock Italy off of the championship throne. At this point everyone has the same chance, and it’s always interesting to see which teams rise to the pressure and which teams crumble. Some of the more interesting teams to watch this year include the United States, which is not known for its football prowess.

A team to watch for a different reason is France. They advanced after defeating Ireland in a highly controversial game during which a French player was not penalized for handling the ball improperly. The French players are sure to be scrutinized in every single play with that famous controversy fresh in everyone’s minds.

If you’re a football fan, you’re probably anxious for the show to start. If you’ve never paid much attention to football, you’ll probably hear quite a bit more about it than you’re used to in the next few months. The world’s focus will shift to South Africa early this summer as the elite football clubs battle it out for the opportunity to bring glory to their home countries in the ultimate football tournament.

Watch the video related to Africa Worldcup travel

When traveling internationally, it is essential to plan ahead. Your first mission should be to obtain the necessary paperwork to enter another country. This requires a valid passport. U.S. citizens do not require a visa to enter and stay in Japan for up to ninety days.

It is important to have back-up copies of important documents. You will want a photocopy of your passport, your flight itinerary, and prescriptions. Furthermore, leave copies of these items, as well as credit card numbers and traveler’s check numbers with friends or family.

Recently, tickets to Tokyo from San Diego could be found for just under one thousand dollars. There are over two dozen one stop flights between these destinations operating on over fifteen airlines. Since the flight is at least fifteen hours long, it is worth it to pay the extra money for a one stop flight. American Airlines operates the largest carrier on this route, and has all of the standard amenities in coach travel.

Prepare yourself ahead of time for the shocking size and population of Tokyo. It is a massive city, sprawling over a vast area, and filled with millions of people. Think twice the size of New York. It can be overwhelming at first, especially if you try to pack every tourist destination into a tight schedule. A Suica or PASMO fare card, which run around 3000 Yen, allow you access to public transportation and can be purchased at any train station. It is also an extremely expensive city, so prepare you wallet, too.

The best mid-range hotels can be found in the major epicenters of the city. There are a few other options to the traditional three star lodging. You may want to consider a business hotel. These cost around 6000 Yen a night and are quite small. Japan has what is known as love hotels, and there is one particular area of Tokyo, Love Hotel Hill, that offers a myriad of choices. Just be sure to specify that you want to rent by the night, and not simply stop in for a rest.

Travelers usually rave about Shibuya and east Shinjuku, two major train stations. You should also visit the Imperial Palace’s gardens. They are open at nine am daily (except for Fridays and Mondays). For the younger generation of travelers, spending a day at Harajuku, where fashion and trendiness abound, is essential. One can also visit a Meiji Jingu shrine.
