  2. Congratulations on your impending marriage!

Paris is where my wife and I honeymooned and that was more than thirty years ago. We're still going strong so maybe there's a bit of good luck to be found there. I hope you find the same good luck.

You will find that English is widely spoken by people who deal with tourists. Knowing just a few simple phrases will be quite enough to get by.

I take it by "next" October you mean a year from now so I figure you have plenty of time.

The internet is a great resource. Lot's of French restaurants are online in both French and English and going over the menus will solve one of the biggest problems that Americans have…figuring out what to order and not getting served something they find weird and inedible.

Check out Le Procope, for example, at http://www.blanc.net/procope/en/index.htm.

Paris is a great city for anyone but to be there and with the one you love is, I promise, as close to heaven as you will be in this life.

it is impossible o find it on the web, the camere or pictures itself. the thief will erased the picture as soon as they get it.
what you can do is to report to the airport authorities and pray.

It's pretty easy to get between Paris and Italy. There are flights, but I prefer the night train. You can sleep in a berth through the night and arrive the next morning in Venice, Florence or Rome. The price for a two person compartment is more than a four or six berth compartment, but you won't have to pay for a hotel for that night. You can find schedules and prices here: http://www.trenitalia.com/cms/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=ad1ce14114bc9110VgnVCM10000080a3e90aRCRD (Italian train site) or http://www.sncf.com/en_EN/flash/ (French train site).

I live in northern Italy and often use the night trains to get around including going to Paris some weekends. In late January – early February it can be cold here, but the museums and shops will be open. I like to go to Venice just before Carnevale because it's pretty quiet then – there were a lot of people Christmas shopping yesterday, but it was a nice day. Carnevale runs from the 6th to the 16th of February in 2010. Florence and Rome are a little warmer, but still are likely to be cold. It's a good time of year to try the Ribollita (a Tuscan bread soup). From Florence, you could easily take a day trip to Siena, Pisa & Florence, or San Gimignano.

In 8 days you really don't have time for a third country.

  5. My very best friend got married just a few months ago. She and her new husband went island hopping in the caribbean they went to the Bahamas, Jamaica, Anguilla, Aruba, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Cancun and Cozumel. They had a very lovely time. I have to admit this wasn't a cruise and they had the lots of fun in the outdoors.

I have been to Paris and it is a beautiful and romantic city, but not so much in the dead of winter.

Congrats on your wedding, but plan heading SOUTH for a your honeymoon!!

If you find a good travel agent that specializes in these places they should not be anymore expensive than a web shop or doing it yourself. Having a valued travel agent behind your travel plans is a GREAT piece of mind. They will know the best areas to stay, what you shouldn't miss, etc. I can say that as in all things, not all travel agents are the same. Find one you feel comortable with and confident in their expertise. remember they do this everyday. This is your honeymoon, focus on that, don't stress on travel plans.

it may be a cliche, but there is a restaurant near the top of the Eiffel Tower, almost guaranteed romantic memories!

Prices depend more on the time of year in which you are travelling rather than the time of year you book. It's a little far off, but start looking. Because of competition, Tuesday and Wednesday are the best days of the week to look. Join as many airmiles programs that you can and you will get emails about special fares. Sometimes as low as 400 roundtrip. Expect to pay anywhere from 600-800.
kayak.com is the best site I have found for air travel. It searches all the other large engines – orbitz, cheaptickets, etc. – for the lowest prices available.

While I understand where "doc" is coming from, talking to a travel agent or "specialist" isn't always the best idea – often they will push the packages they can get the most commission on regardless of a traveler's personality or needs. I have a travel agent friend and she admits that some hotels, airlines and resorts offer hefty commissions when they need customers, and she does pop those offers at the top of her shortlist.

Which way you go is entirely dependent on what kind of travelers you are. Do you get easily stressed out when things are uncertain or unplanned? Are you happiest when busy-busy-busy or do you thrive in a laid-back, relaxed environment?

I've done both kinds of trips and my first honeymoon was a jam-packed week in Walt Disney World. Yes, it was fun, but we hardly had any time at all to just relax and enjoy being newly married. This time around, I really want to do something more low-key. We've tossed around the idea of a Bahamas hotel, a Mexican or Dominican all-inclusive, and a cruise. I'm really leaning toward a cruise; I've been on about a half-dozen and really like the lack of stress. You can be as active (or lazy!) as you want.
