do non us citizens need a visa to travel to japan?
I am planning on visiting my fiance who is in a military base in iwakuni Japan. but i am not a us citizen, i am a legal permanent resident. would i need a visa to travel? do i need permission from the Japanese government to visit? is there a process i have to go through?

i plan to go next year in July but i want to have everything ready a research ahead of time. any information would help. thanks in advance.
